Drive toward the sunset. Pick a fork.

TEB RUN is a free 80s arcade racer that plays right in your browser. Sprite-scaling pseudo-3D road, big curves, rolling hills, a timer ticking down and a sky that's always golden hour.

THE ROAD REALLY SPLITS

At the end of every stage the road widens and physically divides into two carriageways. Pick your side and you pick your next stage. Fifteen stages across five levels. Five endings. Plenty of reasons for one more run.

TUNE THE RADIO FIRST

Before each race, dial in one of three original songs: "Mirrorball Mile" (disco), "Amber Lagoon" (chill-out) or "Tunnel Nine" (techno). Then pick your car: a red roadster, a mint-and-cream 1950s-style roadster, a pearl-white 80s sports roadster, or a candy-red super speedster.

ARCADE TO THE CORE

  • Checkpoint timer that carries your leftover time forward
  • NORMAL and HARD modes, each with its own high-score table
  • Lo/Hi gears and drifting
  • Traffic, crash spins, rain, snow and changing road surfaces
  • Three-letter high-score table, saved in your browser
  • Share card at the end of every run: your route through the forks, time and ending

Gamepad: A/RT accelerate, B/LT brake, stick or d-pad steer, Y change gear, Start pause

WHY "TEB"?

TEB were the three letters I typed into the high-score tables of the arcades in the 80s. This game is my love letter to those nights. My teenage son grew up hearing about those cabinets, and he became TEB RUN's first play-tester: he picked the four cars from the dozens we had generated, argued for five stages per run, asked for mud and snow on the road, and kept me honest about the difficulty.

Made solo with Claude Code, in TypeScript and Canvas 2D. No engine, zero runtime dependencies. Music and sound effects written and synthesized in code. Art generated with ChatGPT's image model from written prompts, checked by hand.

The soundtrack is original and safe to stream. Record, stream and share as much as you like.
